Girl: When I listen to a song, I write the lyrics on a piece of paper and I illustrate them with

a simple drawing. Recently, I heard a song about a problem that worries me a lot.

I decided to play it to my mum and dad. I also showed them my picture. They started

asking questions and as a result we had a really good talk about my problem.

Boy: I enjoy listening to classical music. Once, I invited my best friend over to my house so

that we could listen to my favourite album together. But when the music started, he

began to talk to me. How could he listen to music while talking at the same time?

It made me feel angry. But I didn’t say anything, because I didn’t want to hurt his

feelings.

Girl: My sister and I like to listen to music when we are doing our homework. It’s easier to

concentrate with quiet music in the background. Yesterday, however, I turned the

volume up because we were discussing what to buy for Mum’s birthday and we didn’t

want her to hear us. Suddenly, Mum opened the door to our room and said angrily,

“Turn it off! Instead of studying, you’re listening to music again!”

Boy: The reason I like listening to music is that the words of songs often express my own

feelings. For example, my favourite rap song has really helped me understand myself

better. My parents are not fans of rap music, so when I play it loudly, they always tell

me to turn it down. But I like it when the sound of my music blocks out the rest of the

world. Then there is just music and me!
