Hi Sandra, I’m calling to tell you that I’ll be late. My electric scooter has stopped working.

Now I am waiting for the bus so that I can take my scooter home and then I’ll come to you.

I called my dad and he said he will take me to your place in his car. I hope my scooter is not

too big to take on the bus and I won’t have to walk back home with it. See you in about forty

minutes if everything goes well.

Boy: Here’s the map of the zoo. Where should we go first?

Girl: Let’s go and see the elephants first and then the monkeys.

Boy: Look, the notice on the board says that the lions are having their feeding time now,

so they will be outside and easy to see.

Girl: All right then, let’s visit the elephants later and start with the lions. After that, we can

see the monkeys.

Boy: Good idea!

Boy: Maggie, I didn’t know you were here. What are you reading?

Girl: The book Mrs Stevens asked us to read for homework.

Boy: Oh, that one. I’ve left it at school. I just want to enjoy the weekend.

Girl: But the book’s really good.

Boy: Can you concentrate in here? It’s so noisy.

Girl: It’s not a problem for me and I like the hot chocolate they serve here.

Boy: I’m here with Eric and Jessica. We’ve got a table over there in the corner. Why don’t

you join us?

Girl: Oh… OK. I can finish the book later.

Hi, this is Alice. Something is wrong with my parrot Polly. The vet suggested that I should

bring her for a check-up, so I’ve made an appointment. But Polly hates going to the vet and

always tries to fly away. She’s really big and strong. I need someone to hold her with me at

the clinic. Do you have any time on Monday afternoon? Call me back!

Boy: Have you bought all the ingredients we need?

Girl: Yes, I got the flour, eggs, cream and sugar. I also bought some chocolate chips and

peanut butter, just in case we want to make the cake extra special.

Boy: Great, I’ll bring the recipe which my mum gave me. I have the cake every year at my

birthday party and it’s delicious. And the baking time is only 15 minutes.

Girl: That sounds awesome!
